What changed
The app's default view used to be a question-bank tree. Phase 1 replaced it with a landing page that routes students straight into a journey (review a full paper, the Pro-gated Intelligence ranking, or app settings), with a ranked exam-then-subject-then-paper review as the only student content view. The old browse-mode toggle and header navigation were removed.
Phase 2 added personalized curation on top of that. A student rates their own preparedness per topic (off, weak, okay, strong). A "curated" ranking blends how often a topic has been asked with that rating, so prepared topics drop down the list and unprepared ones rise, with a filter to show only unprepared topics. A guided "Set my plan" journey walks a student through rating their topics for a chosen exam, subject and paper, then hands off into that scoped, curated review.
Design corrections made after shipping
- The landing is a neutral two-choice screen ("set my plan" versus "review now"), equally weighted, with no default.
- A jargon toggle ("Curated / Full paper") was reworded to plain language ("Focus on weak spots / Whole paper") after review.
- Prep status can now be updated in place while reviewing (an inline weak/okay/strong toggle on each card), not only through the separate rating flow.
- A caching bug let a switch between review modes show stale prep-strength scores; fixed by always applying freshly fetched scores rather than trusting a cache version that did not account for prep edits.
- The "Focus on weak spots" filter had been implying it hides topics rated Strong; it only re-ranks them to the bottom. The filter toggle was renamed from "Only unprepared" to "Hide topics I rated Strong", the caption under each mode now states what actually happens (Focus: nothing is hidden; Whole paper: Strong topics are hidden only if the filter is on), a live count shows how many questions the filter is hiding, and a dedicated empty state (with a one-click undo) replaces the misleading "no questions" message when the filter hides an entire paper. A one-time banner explains the filtered state to a student who arrives through the guided "Set my plan" deep link.
