Design review work order 2, the two shells and a made-up clinic

Clarity 2's second design-review work order, a role-correct desk and phone shell over a seeded, resettable made-up clinic, built and verified at the real address.

feature · current · updated 2026-09-21 · Clarity case study

Work order 2 is the slice of the Clarity 2 design review that puts the two shells in front of the two people: the dentist signs in and lands on a desk, his attendant signs in and lands on a phone, and behind both is one made-up clinic that can be reset. It was built and verified on 2026-09-20. See build process and status.

What it builds

  • The visual foundations, held once. A new packages/design workspace owns the tokens and the type scale, so the palette has one home rather than a copy per consumer, which is the drift that workspace exists to prevent. It opens in Daylight, carries the four treatment statuses with their names beside their colours, and a small Vite plugin inlines it into the page head, so the first paint is already the right theme.
  • Two shells, chosen by role. A desk bar carrying Today, Insights, Expenses, Patients and Settings, and a phone with three tabs, each shell its own downloaded chunk. See the role decision.
  • One made-up clinic behind both, ten invented patients on the clinic's own calendar, resettable. See the made-up clinic.
  • The gate learns the role and draws a money wall. It answers /_session with the signed-in role and refuses the attendant the money addresses. See the money wall, the login gate and the contrast fix that landed first.

Out of scope, and each its own later work order: the day's patients and entry, the drift table, the patient page and its three case groupings, the patients-to-message screen, the Insights story, and the attendant's booking, requests and lookup. History stays out of the review.

Criteria and verification

Nine criteria were approved on 2026-09-18: which shell each person gets; no amount, fee, balance or money word anywhere the attendant can reach; each status always carrying its name beside its colour; every piece of text clearing the contrast standard in both themes, computed rather than estimated; Daylight opening it and the choice surviving a reload; reset returning the same clinic to both devices; the desk bar holding exactly those five destinations; nothing real appearing anywhere; and money screens being unreachable by typing their address.

A fresh checker with no memory of the build executed all nine: signing in as each person, walking every screen and address each shell can reach, tampering with the stored clinic and pressing reset, typing the money addresses and reading each status code, and looking at the screenshots, because what is told apart at a glance cannot be read out of a diff. The verdict was nine of nine, none unverified. Lint, the full test run and the build all pass at the same commit.

Built and verified on 2026-09-20, at Clarity's review address. The next work order builds on it.

This page was written by a model from my own repositories and checked by a second one against the same sources. I did not write it, and no version of it was approved by me before it went up. How that works, and where it can still be wrong.
