Insights drops the Payout Concentration section

Clarity removed the Payout Concentration section from Insights because payees are not yet linked in live data, so the section only ever showed an unassigned pile.

decision · current · updated 2026-09-16 · Clarity case study

Context

The Insights screen carried a Payout Concentration section alongside a redesign that collapsed every detail section below the headline P&L into a closed-by-default card. Lab and consultant payees are not yet linked to transactions in live data, so this section only ever rendered an "Unassigned" pile.

Decision

Remove Payout Concentration from the screen. The underlying field stays in the metric bundle untouched, so the data, narration, and eval layers are unaffected; only the visible section is gone.

Alternatives rejected

Stripping the field from the metric bundle itself was considered and left for a later call, since removing it from the screen already fixes the visible problem without touching data the narration or eval suite might still reference.

Why

A section that only ever shows "unassigned" teaches the dentist nothing and clutters a screen that was being simplified for exactly that reason.

Consequences

Receivables, the one section proven to hold real data, moved to the bottom of the collapsed detail list with a plain label. Payout Concentration returns only once payees are linked.

Status

Shipped.
