Remove the duplicate Monthly tab

Clarity's Monthly tab was removed because Insights already surfaced the same and more granular figures, making Monthly a true duplicate.

decision · current · updated 2026-09-16 · Clarity case study

Context

The Monthly screen showed revenue, lab and consultant cost, net, and margin for a month. Insights' own Monthly P&L section already surfaced the same figures at finer granularity, plus many sections Monthly did not have.

Decision

Delete the Monthly route and its nav link entirely. The shared computation it used (computeMonthlySummary) stays, since Home and Insights both depend on it.

Alternatives rejected

Redirecting /monthly to /insights for anyone with a bookmarked link was considered and deliberately left out, since the request was to remove the tab, not preserve its URL.

Why

A screen that duplicates a superset of its own numbers adds navigation weight with no distinct information.

Consequences

/monthly now returns a 404. Nav tabs were also reordered by actual use in a follow-up change the same day.

Status

Shipped.
